I’m a solo mum raising a brilliant little boy, and I’ll be completely honest: this is a begging letter.

It’s brazen. I know that.

We are not in crisis, I am not claiming this is an essential expense, and I am fully aware that nobody owes us a holiday, a day out or even £1.

But I have seen plenty of people crowdfund holidays, experiences and all sorts of other things, and eventually I thought: why not us?

You don’t ask, you don’t get.

I work long hours to keep everything going and raise my son without practical or financial support from his father. The bills get paid and the essentials are covered, but there is not always much left for the fun stuff.

And the fun stuff matters too.

Days out. School-holiday activities. Little trips. Short breaks. The occasional chance to say yes without immediately calculating the cost of parking, petrol, tickets, food and everything else that comes with it.

I was fortunate to have holidays and adventures growing up, and I would love to give my son more of those experiences too. Not a luxury lifestyle. Not endless expensive trips. Just more happy memories, more time together and, hopefully, a proper adventure abroad one day.

So this is our adventure fund.

Any money raised may go towards days out, travel costs, activities, short breaks and future holidays for my son and me.

We are staying anonymous because he is young and I want to protect our privacy and safety. I will not share our faces, location, school or identifying details.

Realistically, this may go nowhere. Nobody may donate a penny.

But the worst that can happen is that I ask and nothing changes.

The best that can happen is that a few people make a few small donations, share the page, or help us say yes to something we would otherwise have to miss.

So here it is: my openly brazen, wing-it-and-see attempt to fund a few more adventures for my boy.
